The SL300 is a Class 2 Sound Level Meter. Class 2 is a common type of sound level meter that conforms to the requirements of the international IEC 61672-1 standard for SPL (sound pressure level) meters.
Compared with the basic BS15 below, the SL300 is more accurate and is better for determining general environmental and background noise volumes. (e.g. measuring noise on the boundary of a property)
To attain better SPL readings (when compared with the BS15), it features 4 selectable measurement ranges. These ranges narrow the overall 30-130dB automatic broadband mode to smaller ranges i.e. 30 - 80dBA.
The SL300 has the added functionality of a very simple data recording function. Up to 50 measured values can be recorded into the memory of the SL300, with time and date. These values can be recalled/viewed at a later time by the operator.
NOTE: This is not a downloadable data recording sound level meter or programmable one.
dB(A) and dB(C) frequencies can be measured with maximum, minimum and hold measuring modes. The response time can be also alternated between fast (125ms) and slow (1s) sampling rates.
The common use of the dB(A) weighted frequency and slow update rate generally provides the best results for general use.
